Quitting Rate Lower Among Smokers Who Can Buy cheap tobacco.

Smokers who had easy access to low-tax discount smokes sold on Indian reservations were less likely to quit - and more likely to relapse when they did - compared to smokers who paid higher prices, Medical Study News reported May 26. The same situation may be observed with cheap smokes online buyers.
Researchers from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., surveyed 1,548 adults in two New York counties and found that smokers who frequented nearby Indian reservations to buy low-tax discount tobacco or purchased cheap cigarettes in online smokes shops (for example your favorite cheap winstons) were half as likely to try to quit compared to smokers who bought full-price sigarettes. When they did try to quit, the low-tax cheap smokes online buyers were less likely to succeed.
The authors concluded that the low-price cigarettes were a dangerous incentive for smokers purchasing discount Camel cigarettes, cheap kent cigarettes, discount Marlboro cigarettes, Discount parliament cigarettes, discount Salem cigarettes or discount Winston cigarettes, etc in Indian reservations.

Marlboro cigarettes are produced by Phillip Morris, one of the most famous tobacco products manufacturers around the globe. has become extremely popular after the famous advertising campaign, the main characters of which were the Marlboro Country and the Marlboro Man.

These days Marlboro is the world leader in numbers of the cigarettes sold worldwide. The case study dated back to 2002 made by the leading tobacco industry researchers and analysts showed that most of the Caucasian smokers prefer Marlboro cigarettes.

After the World War II the brand suddenly disappeared from the market. Actually it was unable to compete with such strong cigarette brands as Camel, Lucky Strike cigarettes and Chesterfield cigarettes which had only strengthened their market positions during the war.

Marlboro came back in 1955. This time they appeared as the filtered cigarettes and that was a nicely-timed decision as the market trend was obviously demonstrating the need for the filtered varieties as they were believed to be safer than those without any filters.

Marlboro cigarettes are also known for their rapid burning. Because of the special blending technology and various chemicals used, Marlboro cigarettes burn up to 25% faster than those of the other top selling brands like Winston cigarettes, Camel cigarettes etc.

The name of the brand comes from the name of the street where the first factory to produce Marlboros was built. It's Great Marlborough Street in London. Phillip Morris was actually based in London and Marlboro appeared on the American market only in 1902 (though it’s now considered to be a truly US brand), when a subsidiary of Phillip Morris was opened in New York.
